Blender Software Review 2016 Review
Starting in the 1988s, Ton Roosendaal founded a company engaged in animation called NeoGeo. NeoGeo is growing so rapidly that it has become the largest animation company in the Netherlands and one of the leading animation companies in Europe. In addition to being responsible as an art director, Ton Roosendaal is also responsible for internal software development.
In 1995 came a software which was finally called Blender. After closer inspection, it turns out that artists can use Blender outside of NeoGeo. In 1998, Ton founded Not a Number (NaN) to develop further and market Blender. NaN’s goal is to create a solid, cross-platform 3D animation software free and can be used by the general public.
Unfortunately, NaN’s ideals did not match the current market realities. In 2001 NaN was reformed into a smaller company. NaN launched its first commercial software, Blender Publisher. The target market for this software is the interactive 3D web. Low sales figures and the then unfavourable economic climate resulted in the closure of the NaN. This closure includes a halt to Blender development.
